Spring Fashions 1900-1920
The early 20th century saw a major change in women's fashions. As a reaction to the dark somber colors fashionable in the Victorian times, white became the "in" color. Having several white cotton dresses in one's wardrobe was a fashion must for most women--particularly for summer. These dresses often were embellished with fancy lace and embroidery, and were accessorized with huge flowery hats, fans, gloves, purses and parasols.
Come see a selection from the Clarke Museum's collection on display now--plus photographs of many Humboldt Honeys of their day
